Maine College of Art & Design Recognized by Graphic Design USA

The marketing team at Maine College of Art & Design has been recognized by Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) for their design of the Ampersand Grid Poster and the Salt Viewbook. The 61st annual GDUSA Design Awards received over 8,000 entries, with less than 10% of applicants being recognized.

Graphic Designer Claire Christensen '23 led the design of the Ampersand Grid Poster. The poster references typefaces used across the College's materials—such as Bild, Work Sans, and Expo Serif—as well as some historical and well-known typefaces—such as Baskerville, Cooper Black, and Comic Sans.

The Salt Viewbook was initially designed by Kiana Thayer '20, referencing Salt publications of the 1970s. Christensen updated the design standards using the established framework and collaborated with updated imagery from the Salt Story Archive.
