Maine College of Art & Design is proud to present Halftone, an exhibition featuring prints by alumni. The exhibition will be on display from August 4 to September 9, 2023, at the College's 49 Oak gallery and exhibition space. An opening reception is scheduled for August 4 from 5:00-8:00PM.
Maine College of Art & Design recognizes the importance of printmaking as a vehicle for vernacular culture, social dissent, and cultural identity. In today's world of instant reproduction and ever-changing definitions of authenticity, printmaking remains an essential format for elastic experimentation. The artists selected for this exhibition, through a rigorous open-call process, collectively embody this commitment to exploration and experimentation.
The exhibition includes prints by 15 talented artists, all of whom are Maine College of Art & Design alumni. The artists featured in this exhibition represent a diverse range of styles and ideas. Through their work, they explore the many facets of printmaking, and demonstrate that it is still a relevant and valuable form of artistic expression in today's world.
